Not Only News Service/Kolkata: Helicopter Eela is an upcoming Bollywood film directed by Pradeep Sarkar. The film stars Kajol, Riddhi Sen, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Pradeep Sarkar visited Kolkata today afternoon at The Oberoi Grand, Kolkata for a Press Conference to promote their upcoming Bollywood film ‘Helicopter Eela’.
Helmed by Pradeep Sarkar, Eela is a story of a single mother and an aspiring singer who gives up all her dreams to raise her only child, played by National award winning actor Riddhi Sen. Her son who is a typical young millennial doesn’t want his mother life to revolve around him. Being an over protective mother she decides to join her son’s college, which eventually suffers a backlash for invading the son’s privacy.
Talking about her role in the film, Kajol says, “Helicopter Eela comes from a hashtag helicopter mom. Which is basically what an Indian mother has always been – overpossessive and stalkerish. In India, every mother is a helicopter mother so we named it Helicopter Eela. I don’t think Indian mothers are going to change very much. But yes, Eela is just that little bit more. The character is relatable. I loved the concept of the story and the fact that it spoke about a relationship between a single mother and her son”.
Director Pradeep Sarkar says, “If you have to connect with your kids you have to becomes friends, you cannot be a parent who is trying to control everything. The satisfaction of understanding your kids and kids understanding you – is what this film is trying to do. Giving the space, yet giving love, because finally its the love that connects. It is an emotional story said with humor.”
