NOT ONLY NEWS / NADIA: A fresh incident of theft has been reported at the same tea stall in the Nabodoy Club area under Krishnagar Kotwali Police Station in Nadia. Shockingly, despite the presence of the Government College Ground police outpost right nearby, the theft took place from the front side of the shop, triggering panic among local traders.

Shop owner Saheb Majumdar said that on Monday late at night he closed his shop and went home around 3 a.m. When he returned on Tuesday morning, he found the shutter open and items scattered inside. Upon inspection, it was discovered that miscreants had broken through the wall on the Government College side to enter the shop. According to the owner, goods worth nearly Rs. 60,000 were stolen.

Significantly, this is not the first such incident. The same shop had been robbed earlier as well, at a time when the Kotwali outpost was not yet set up in the locality. Although a complaint was filed back then, the police failed to arrest anyone. The owner claims that items worth Rs. 70,000–80,000 had been stolen during the first incident.

Two thefts at the same shop have left business owners in fear.
In the words of the shop owner:
“If a theft can occur right next to a police outpost, where will common people place their trust?”

Police have reportedly started an investigation following the incident.
