NOT ONLY NEWS / NADIA: The Gita Jayanti festival is being celebrated with great splendour at the ISKCON Chandradoya Temple in Mayapur, Nadia, with thousands of devotees—Indian and international—joining the celebrations, transcending all barriers of caste, creed, and religion.
Throughout the year, Mayapur ISKCON draws large crowds of pilgrims for various religious festivals. In the same way, every event here becomes vibrant with the presence of foreign devotees. Similarly, the week-long Gita Jayanti festival at the Chandradoya Temple has turned into a grand spiritual gathering. The primary aim of the festival is to encourage devotees to gain spiritual knowledge through the recitation and study of the Bhagavad Gita, as the Gita is regarded as the ultimate source of divine wisdom.
Even though life has become increasingly busy for people today, they often drift away from their roots and culture. Yet, the teachings of the Gita remain deeply ingrained, offering a guiding light and opening the eye of wisdom. The Gita Jayanti festival at ISKCON Mayapur continues this tradition, drawing thousands of devotees from India and abroad.
While continuous Gita recitation takes place on one side, prayers and rituals for universal peace and welfare are performed simultaneously. Every year, the ISKCON authorities organise this festival with the intention of promoting spiritual enrichment, peace, and well-being across the world.
To ensure smooth conduct and safety, ISKCON has arranged for enhanced security and excellent facilities for all visiting devotees. The entire Mayapur temple complex has been beautifully illuminated and decorated for the occasion.
Speaking on the event, ISKCON Mayapur’s Public Relations Officer, Rasik Gauranga Das, said, “This festival is our effort to awaken the message of the Gita in every heart. The Gita is Shri Krishna’s divine message delivered on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, and we honour this sacred tradition through the Gita Jayanti celebrations.”
