Not Only News, Krishnanagar: An Assam Rifles jawan has been arrested by Krishnanagar Kotwali Police on charges of assaulting on-duty police personnel, using abusive language, and vandalising government property. The arrested soldier has been identified as Sujit Kumar Barman, a resident of Assam.
According to police sources, Barman had come to his in-laws’ house in the Bhatajungle area under Kotwali Police Station to attend a family function. It is alleged that on Monday afternoon, in an intoxicated state, he began hurling abusive language at the police personnel on duty and pushed them around.
When the situation was brought under control and he was brought to the police station, he allegedly attacked the on-duty officers there as well, police claimed.
He was subsequently arrested. The accused was produced before the Krishnanagar District Court today.
